The Department of Economics at the University of Birmingham will be holding their next Peter Sinclair Town Hall lecture with the 2001 Nobel Laureate Professor Joseph Stiglitz of Columbia University as speaker. The event will be held via Zoom on Tuesday 5 April, 15.30 – 16.30.
Professor Joseph Stiglitz areas of interest and research include climate change, development economics and global economic policy. The event will include introductions by Professor Anindya Banerjee (Department of Economics) and Professor Robin Mason (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, International), a talk by Joseph Stiglitz, followed by the opportunity for Q&A.
This lecture series covers speakers that are diverse in topic but united in that they apply economics to real world issues, demonstrating how economics can be both useful and a force for good in understanding and shaping the world. It is inspired by Emeritus Professor Peter Sinclair, who sadly passed away in March 2020, and whose breadth of knowledge, curiosity and kindness inspired his students and colleagues immeasurably.
