Resources for PhD Students and Early Career Researchers

Students undertaking a PhD in Economics, and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) that have recently completed a PhD, represent the future of the discipline. The RES is keen to support the next generation of Economists and has collated a number of resources to this end.

The resources include materials that reflect the personal, sometimes contradictory, opinions of their authors. The materials are not endorsed by the RES but are, hopefully, helpful.

A research degree in economics will provide you with a rigorous way of thinking about a wide range of problems, from running a company to designing CO2 emission reduction schemes. What you do with this skill is entirely up to you. In my case, I decided to pursue an academic career, which allows me to teach future generations of economists and work on problems I find interesting and important. For example, I have worked on systems to allocate refugees across the United States and to assign childcare places.
