RES culture survey 2025

The RES Culture Survey is a key initiative which draws on the experiences and perceptions of over 280 academic economists and covers themes including inclusivity, fairness, discrimination, and professional integrity.

Earlier this year, the Royal Economic Society invited economists working in UK higher education to share their experiences of professional culture for the 2025 report.

Previous surveys had raised various concerns: the 2024 European Economic Association survey found UK economists reported the highest levels of perceived discrimination across Europe, while the RES 2023 Standards of Conduct Survey revealed similar issues experienced among members.

You can find the full report, the executive summary, and an article from the RES Quarterly Newsletter below.

The findings contained in the survey will support our work to improve diversity, inclusion and professional conduct in the discipline. This work is part of the Royal Economic Society’s commitment to improving diversity, inclusion, and professional conduct across the discipline.
