The Royal Economic Society is recruiting a new Head of Membership who will develop and execute a strategy for the retention of existing members and acquisition of new members.

The postholder will be working with colleagues and relevant committees to champion the member experience and to maximise the member value proposition.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, oversee and execute a costed, multi-year plan approved by the Trustee Board to retain and grow members
  • Develop and oversee a programme to monitor member needs and satisfaction
  • Use member feedback to introduce membership features which enhance value proposition for each segment
  • Work with the Member Operations Director to oversee the joining and renewal process, providing an efficient workflow for members and staff
  • Through a data-driven approach, size and segment the market (including by career stage) of members and potential RES members
  • Work with colleagues to enhance the membership data available on the Society’s CRM system
  • Monitor and regularly report on membership data, proposing annual targets
  • Develop and launch an RES Institutional Membership Programme
  • Develop and oversee the RES Group Membership Programme for academic departments, managing individual arrangements accordingly
  • Develop impact stories to demonstrate the value of membership
  • Make member pricing recommendations
  • Provide input and make recommendations to the annual budget cycle
  • Work with and provide support to relevant committees and/or working groups
  • Undertake other tasks as required by line manager
