The Royal Economic Society is recruiting a Governance and Grants Officer who will lead on and provide administrative support to the Chief Executive around governance work and working with Trustees, the Member Operations Director in relation to grants and will support the Office Manager in the smooth running of the Office.

Some key responsibilities, amongst other things, include:

  • Organise and schedule meetings for Trustee Board, Council, assigned committees/sub-groups/working group meetings, including venue and IT requirements
  • Support the Chief Executive in the induction and training of trustees and Council members
  • Support the nominations and elections process including the Council ballot campaign
  • Provide in depth support for the Women’s Committee, including contributing to budget, annual cycle and other relevant documents
  • Assist the Member Operations Director with the RES grants process and documents
  • Collate grant applications and liaise with the relevant working groups to approve or reject applications
  • Assist the Office Manager in the smooth running of the office

Person Specification

  • At least 2 years of experience in supporting governance/committees preferably in the charity sector within the last 5 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including interpersonal skills, dealing with a range of stakeholders in a professional engaging manner
  • Excellent MS Office skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well within a team, with a flexible can-do approach to work
