The Royal Economic Society’s annual training school for doctoral students has been running for over 25 years. Many of our current members will remember attending the residential school themselves. From 2026 the RES is looking for a UK institution to host the school for 1-2 years. The school forms part of the ESRC funded Doctoral Training Programme.

Prof Gregory Jolivet, University of Bristol, RES Easter Training School Host (2021-2025), stated: “My colleagues and I are grateful for the opportunity to work with the Society and host the RES Easter Training School at the University of Bristol. Over the last four years we welcomed over 120 PhD students to the University, allowing them to meet and discuss their work with peers, eminent keynote lecturers and guest speakers from the policy world. We wish the next hosts well and know that they, their students and school will benefit from the experience, just as Bristol has done.”
