The RES Diversity and Inclusion Network will be holding their second event on 9 June 2023 at HM Treasury, London, co-hosted by the Government Economic Service (GES). We invite those who are interested in diversity work to attend and network with like-minded individuals.
The Diversity & Inclusion Network aims to support those working on increasing diversity in Economics. The aim is to contribute to increasing participation from under-represented groups and promote a more inclusive culture in the discipline. The network also connects individuals and groups working on making Economics more diverse and creating a better community and working environment for economists across sectors.
The event will start with a panel discussion on ‘Why diversity matters in economics’, chaired by Stefania Paredes Fuentes (RES Diversity Champion), and featuring Arun Advani (Chair of Discover Economics and Associate Professor at the University of Warwick), Luisa Affuso (Chief Economist, Ofcom), Tom Aldred (Deputy Director of the GESR team at HM Treasury) and Jo Swaffield (incoming Chair of RES Women’s Committee, Professor of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton).
This will be followed by breakout sessions exploring topics such as how to create inclusive learning environments, diversity and the triple bottom line, creating inclusive environments for LGTBQA+ groups, and socio-economic diversity in economics.
The event is free of charge, but we will close registration once the venue reaches maximum capacity.
