RES at Pride London 2024

RES Pride 2024 1

The Royal Economic Society (RES) marched at the Pride in London parade on Saturday, 29 June 2024. We were delighted to be accompanied by members who brought their family and friends. This was a historic moment for the Society, visibly representing economists and the discipline at Pride.

Amongst those who attended, Prof Imran Rasul (UCL and RES Incoming President) said that he found the day to be “really enjoyable, and one to be repeated!”

Dr Dario Sansone, a member of the RES and the LGBTQ+ community, said: “RES sent an important signal by attending the London Pride.”

As a Society, we want to celebrate and support diversity in all its forms, including representation of LGBTQIA+ economists. This aligns closely with our strategic mission and priorities: bringing communities of economists together, and improving diversity, inclusion and integrity in the profession.

The RES is committed to facilitating and promoting the change required for the discipline to become more diverse and inclusive. The Society can reach a large number of economists through its activities and partnerships and strives to harbour those opportunities to improve EDI within the discipline.

Our Diversity Hub brings together this work. If you would like to get involved with our diversity work contact our Diversity Champion at Stefania Paredes Fuentes s.paredes-fuentes@soton.ac.uk. If you are interested in getting involved with future LGBTQIA+ events, please reach out to Liza: resoffice@res.org.uk.
