On Saturday 5 July 2025, the Royal Economic Society proudly marched in the Pride in London parade, joining thousands in a vibrant celebration of LGBTQIA+ visibility, equality, and inclusion. We were delighted to be joined by RES members, along with their friends and families, for what was our second ever Pride — once again visibly representing economists on this important public stage. We were proud to be marching alongside the Bank of England, standing together in solidarity as part of the wider economics community.
As a Society, we want to celebrate and support diversity in all its forms, including greater visibility and representation of LGBTQIA+ economists. This aligns closely with our strategic mission and priorities: bringing communities of economists together, and improving diversity, inclusion, and integrity in the profession.
RES is committed to facilitating and promoting the change needed for the discipline to become more diverse and inclusive. Through its activities and partnerships, the Society reaches a broad community of economists and strives to use these opportunities to improve EDI within the discipline.
