Here are some updates to note about our upcoming RES Annual Conference.
A Move to the Summer
In 2023, RES surveyed its members for feedback on the timing of the Annual Conference. Traditionally, the event has taken place just before the Easter weekend, which some members found challenging. As a result, we will be trialing a shift to the summer for the 2025 and 2026 conferences.
Speed Paper Presentations
Investing in future economists is vital to advancing the discipline and to ensuring that economics continues to contribute to a better world. As such, a new addition to the conference for 2025 are ‘Speed Sessions’.
The committee have decided to include this new format to allow for more presentation opportunities for those who apply. Many will know our rejection rate is high, and these additional sessions give another 40 presenters the chance to showcase their research.
Speed Sessions will give those new to presenting their research a great opportunity to enhance their careers, including by presenting the key elements of their research and networking and meeting new fellow economists.
Childcare Provision
The RES understand the importance of accommodating parents with young children and are dedicated to providing a convenient solution for childcare during the conference.
There is an on-campus pre-school nursery which can offer ad doc day places for children aged between 9 months and 5 years, this, we hope, will ensure parents can bring their children to conference and leave them in an appropriate setting.

Poster Sessions
Poster Sessions were introduced in 2024 and were a resounding success, the calibre of posters and the overall atmosphere during the event made it a not-to-be-missed element of the first day of conference.
In 2025 we will once again host a Poster Session on Monday 30 June alongside the Welcome Drinks Reception. Poster applications will now be linked with Paper applications, so be ready with your draft paper, applications open on 15 October and close on 13 January 2025.
