The Royal Economic Society held the 2024 Annual Conference from 25-27 March. With over 500 people registered, the event was filled with great discussions and networking opportunities.

We welcomed a number of speakers and sessions that brought some thought-provoking insights on economics, such as our keynote lectures, a Memorial Lecture in honour of RES Past President Nicholas Crafts, a session on ‘Positive Cultural Change in Economics’ and on becoming an active bystander and a special panel about artificial intelligence.

We thank all those who attended and hope to see everybody again at next year’s conference! The 2025 Annual Conference will be held at the University of Birmingham from 30 June – 02 July 2025. The call for papers for the 2025 conference will open in November 2024.

RES conference delegate Nursena Aksunger (Vrije University Amsterdam) said: “I liked the setting of Poster Sessions, coupled with welcome drinks. In general poster sessions do not get attention, this was not the case for the RES Conference 2024. I had great discussions during my poster presentation.”

Conference delegate Cristina Griffa (University of Nottingham) added: “I liked the diverse attendance very much, the networking environment, the quality of the sessions and the organisation.”

As a RES member, the conference recordings are available on the RES Membership portal. Recordings of some of the conference lectures are available on-demand on the conference app or web portal.
