Why isn’t the whole world developed? Discover Economics with CAGE

Date: 10 May 2023 14:00 – 15:00 BST

The CAGE Research Centre and Discover Economics have released a new video series for students aged 15–17 to explore why the economies of Africa and India are less developed than others. Perfect for Economics and History classes.

As part of the school video series, Discover Economics with CAGE and University of Warwick are hosting a live webinar with academics from the University of Warwick and the LSE to consider how history and economics interlink.

The speakers include:

  • Bishnupriya Gupta- Research Director of CAGE and Professor of Economics University of Warwick.
  • Claudia Rei- Associate Professor and Director of Studies UG at University of Warwick.
  • Noam Yuchtman- Professor at LSE

The team hope that the videos will offer a new depth and variety to colonial history teaching in schools and will demonstrate to students the importance of economics for understanding history, and of economic history for understanding the modern economy.
