The European Job Market for Economists (EJME) provides a forum for postgraduates to be interviewed by recruiting institutions from across Europe. The EJME is co-sponsored by the RES, the European Economic Association (EEA) and the Spanish Economic Society (AEE).
To help you prepare for the December virtual job market, the RES will host a 1 hour webinar where you will hear from hiring academics as well as new recruits.

Professor | University of Warwick
Caroline is a teaching-focused Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick, and a Fellow of the Warwick International Higher Education Academy. She has a long-standing association with The Economics Network which works to enhance the quality of university economics teaching and learning, and is currently Deputy Director of the network.
Caroline is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE. Her research spans pedagogical research with a particular focus on the use of technologies in teaching, empirical education economics and industrial economics research areas.
Senior Lecturer | Cardiff Met University
Ramakanta Patra grew up in India and studied economics at Ravenshaw College. He subsequently obtained master’s degrees in Applied Economics, Mathematics and Economics from Indiana University and Virginia Tech in the USA, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from University of London (Royal Holloway) and has been working as a Senior Lecturer of Economics at Cardiff School of Management in Cardiff Metropolitan University. Dr. Patra has been a Visiting Associate Professor of Economics at Kyoto Institute of Economic Research and a Member of the steering group of the Conference of Head of University Departments of Economics of the Royal Economic Society. Dr. Patra’s area of research is Industrial Organisation and Game Theory with specific reference to Repeated Games and its applications to collusive conduct and credit games.
Senior Lecturer | University of Surrey
Alessio is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics at the University of Surrey. He earned his BSc and MSc in Economics from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy). In 2020 he received a PhD in Economics from Queen Mary University of London. He joined the University of Surrey in August 2020. He also collaborated with the European Central Bank (ECB), the Bank of England, and BNP Paribas.
His main research interests focus on macroeconometrics, time series analysis, and Bayesian econometrics.
Lecturer in Economics | King’s College London
Margaret joined the Economics Department at King’s College London in October 2022 from the Department of Economics at the University of Lausanne (HEC), where she was a Postdoctoral Researcher. She completed her master’s and Ph.D. at the University of St. Gallen. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked in the private sector in futures market regulation at CME Group in Chicago.
Margaret is a macroeconomist specialising in international macroeconomics and finance, household finance, and heterogeneity in macroeconomics, with a broad aim of understanding the drivers and consequences of international capital flows.
Assistant Professor | Corvinus University of Budapest
Marieke joined the Department of Operations Research and Actuarial Sciences at Corvinus University of Budapest in September 2023 as an Assistant Professor. She studied mathematical economics and obtained her PhD from Bielefeld University (Germany) in 2021. During her doctoral studies, she visited Northwestern University and the Paris School of Economics as a research student. Prior to joining Corvinus University, she spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Paris School of Economics.
Her research focuses on microeconomic theory, game theory, and information economics. In particular, she is interested in how incomplete information and uncertainty affect strategic decisions and can be used to influence others.
