Discover Economics was proud to support the YES! Finals that took place on 19-21 September at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany, with around 130 students from three different countries taking part.
The Young Economic Summit (YES!) is an opportunity for young people to build networks and develop their ideas about global problems. Two UK teams made it to the finals, with the team from Sheffield Girls’ Sixth Form ultimately taking the International Prize for their ‘Migration Education for the Misinformed Nation’ proposal. All of the students designed solutions to international challenges, producing ideas that would help to create a better world.
Discover Economics Campaign Manager Sam McLoughlin was on hand to support the UK teams and saw the event as a great opportunity for students to learn about economics. One teacher involved said the competition had been an opportunity to “develop innovative solutions to problems” and it had been a “fantastic learning experience” for the students. Students also spoke highly of the experience, one saying “we have loved taking part and highly recommend it to anyone.”
