Consciously Inclusive Mentoring

CIM 2023-05

Our next mentoring event will take place on Thursday 2 November 2023 from 10.00-12.00 (GMT).  To take part, please complete the application form on this page.

As part of our Diversity Strategy, the Royal Economic Society has developed the “Consciously Inclusive Mentoring” short programme for its members. The goal of this programme is to provide mentors with training on inclusive mentoring practices, understanding how conscious and/or unconscious biases affect the mentor-mentee relationship.

The programme has been developed by Ellie Highwood (Equasense Diversity and Inclusion specialist) in partnership with our Diversity Champion and Members from the Women’s Committee, and comprises of two parts:

  • Part 1 “Understanding Consciously Inclusive Mentoring”; self-guided
This offers resources (short videos and a workbook) for you to engage in your own time. We estimate this to require 60-90 minutes of work.
  • Part 2 “Becoming a Consciously Inclusive Mentor”
This is a live 2 hour session, which takes place on Zoom.

We really believe this can takes us one step closer to making Economics a more diverse and inclusive discipline and hope you are interested in investing your time in this RES professional development training. To express an interest to join the next session, please fill in this form.
