RES members are invited to propose names for both the RES Council (for the period Spring 2024-2029) and President-Elect for Spring 2025-2026, then President 2026-2027. The latter will follow Prof Imran Rasul who has been confirmed as President-Elect 2024-2025 and President 2025-2026.
Any member of the RES who would like to make a nomination should email the Elections Officer Miguel Costa-Gomes at RESoffice@res.org.uk by 16th October 2023. When making a nomination, please provide your name, the nominee’s name and their affiliation, together with either their CV summary or a link to their online CV. Self-nominations are welcome for possible Council membership. You can view the current Council membership and list of former Presidents on the RES website.
The RES Nominations and Appointments Committee will meet in early November 2023 to consider all nominations received. From these, the Committee will agree a list of twelve names for the Council Election. This list will then be subject to a ballot of all RES members early in 2024 in order to elect six new Council members. Each year, Council reviews its composition and issues guidance to the N&A Committee on any dimensions where Council feels it is under-represented. For 2024, it has determined that two places on the ballot shall be reserved for academics from non-Russell Group institutions and a further two places reserved for early career economists (defined as someone within the first five years of completing their studies). The Nominations and Appointments Committee will also agree a Presidential nomination which will be presented to Council.
The successful candidates will join Council and be ratified as President-Elect after formal adoption at the Society’s 2024 AGM.
