The UK academic mentoring scheme is looking to recruit mentors to support the career development and academic acculturation of Ukrainian academics. Please, share this information to any colleagues who may have an interest.

The UK academic mentoring scheme has been developed by a network of volunteers from a UK branch of Science for Ukraine as a rapid response to the current war in Ukraine.

It is aimed at Ukrainian academic staff with at least an MSc/MA qualification (or equivalent) and who had at least 3 months of experience in an academic or industry research post. The main goal of the scheme is to provide individualised mentoring support to academics to navigate through UK academia. The scheme covers but is not limited to career planning, CVs and applications, academic writing, securing research funding and professional behaviour.

Mentors’ profile: academics with a PhD at various stages of their career – from a research associate to professor, no previous mentoring is required but beneficial, all disciplines.

Matchmaking and start of the Scheme: mentees will be matched to a mentor of appropriate career stage and from the same discipline and research area; the mentoring will commence as soon as the match is found. We anticipate that mentoring sessions will be carried out on-line via Skype, Teams, Zoom or other virtual platforms.  We advise for the mentors and mentees to meet at least every two weeks for at least two months.

If you would like to be a mentor, please, fill out this short form.
