The Royal Economic Society (RES) has introduced a category of membership known as “Fellows of the Royal Economic Society” (FREcon). These terms and conditions govern the use of the post-nominals FREcon by individuals granted this designation.
1.1 Individuals must be formally accepted as Fellows of the Royal Economic Society following a successful application and review process. Fellowship status is conferred upon individuals who meet the specified criteria.
2.1 Fellows are entitled to use the postnominals FREcon after their name during the period in which they hold active Fellowship status.
2.2 The postnominals may be used on professional materials, including business cards, email signatures, CVs, academic publications and professional profiles.
3.1 The postnominals must be used in a manner that is truthful and not misleading regarding the individual’s affiliation with the Royal Economic Society.
3.2 Fellows must not use the postnominals FREcon to imply endorsement by the Royal Economic Society of personal or organizational activities, views or products.
3.3 The use of FREcon is strictly prohibited in any context that brings the Royal Economic Society into disrepute.
4.1 The right to use FREcon is contingent upon maintaining active Fellowship status, including adherence to all membership requirements (e.g., payment of annual fees, compliance with professional standards).
4.2 If Fellowship status is revoked, suspended or otherwise terminated, the individual must immediately cease using FREcon.
5.1 Fellows must abide by the Royal Economic Society’s Code of Conduct.
5.2 Breaches of the Code of Conduct or professional ethics may result in the suspension or revocation of Fellowship status, including the right to use FREcon.
6.1 The Royal Economic Society reserves the right to monitor and verify the use of FREcon to ensure compliance with these terms and conditions.
6.2 Misuse of FREcon may result in disciplinary action, including public correction or legal proceedings.
7.1 The Royal Economic Society reserves the right to withdraw the right to use FREcon at its sole discretion if terms and conditions are breached.
8.1 The Royal Economic Society reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time, with appropriate notice provided to Fellows.
8.2 Fellows are responsible for ensuring they remain informed about and comply with the most current terms and conditions.
By applying for and accepting the designation of Fellow of the Royal Economic Society, individuals agree to comply with these terms and conditions.
