Home > Appeals & complaints policy

The Editors of The Econometrics Journal are committed to handling manuscripts fairly, unbiasedly, and promptly, in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. Authors have the right to appeal any decision taken on their manuscript at any stage. Appeals are designed for major procedural errors, cases of discrimination, conflicts of interests, and clear wrongdoing by the Editors, and not for cases where there is a difference of opinion as to the interest, novelty, or suitability of the manuscript for the Journal.
An appeal letter should be sent to the RES Senior Publications Manager (ej@res.org.uk) and should explain the nature of the appeal and provide supporting evidence. Appeals are handled on a case-by-case basis by the Editors or by the Royal Economic Society, under the oversight of the Society’s Publications Committee.
Complaints against the Journal, its procedures, staff, editorial board or publisher should be directed to the Society’s Publications Committee. Where applicable, the Publications Committee will investigate the complaint in line with the relevant guidance from COPE. A complaint letter, along with any supporting documentation should be directed to complaints@res.org.uk.
If a complainant remains unsatisfied after a reply from the Society’s Publications Committee, the complainant may submit their concern/issue to COPE. COPE’s Facilitation and Integrity Subcommittee will facilitate the resolution of disputes.
