Vacancy: RES Honorary Treasurer

Applications are now open to serve as Honorary Treasurer from May 2024-2027.


The Honorary Treasurer will:

  • Chair meetings of the Finance Committee (three times a year), Audit Committee (yearly) and Remuneration Committee (yearly)
  • Become a trustee of the Society, attending three Trustee Board meetings per year and two Council meetings per year
  • Have oversight over the Society’s investments, liaising with investment managers and Finance Committee
  • Adhere to the RES Code of Conduct, and be committed to achieving the four strategic priorities of the RES Strategy (2024 – 2028).

Person specification

Essential criteria

  • Familiarity with accounting procedures, budgeting and cashflow

Desirable criteria

  • Some prior involvement with the Society’s and/or its activities
  • Familiarity with the running of a learned society
  • Familiarity with managing investments
  • Familiarity with the statutory requirements of a charity in relation to accounting and auditing

Applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae and a covering letter setting out your experience and qualifications (if any) relevant to the role and your motivations for becoming Honorary Treasurer of the Society. This is a key role and will play an integral part in executing the 2024 – 2028 Strategy.
