Background
The UK Women in Economics Network (UK WEN) was set up by the Royal Economic Society’s Women’s Committee in 2022. The Network’s mission is to close the gap in the representation of women in economics across academia and the public and private sectors. This is done through a range of activities aimed at supporting the career development of UK-based women in economics across the pipelines, by enhancing the visibility of women economists and their interests across all sectors and by monitoring representation.

Key responsibilities
The UK WEN Chair is responsible for overseeing the UK WEN, working with the Chair of the Women’s Committee, UK WEN Steering Group members, other Women’s Committee members and other Diversity, Inclusion and Professional Conduct (DIPC) Leads, to ensure joined-up delivery of the activities. The UK WEN Chair ensures that the development of the UK WEN supports the Society’s strategic objectives, that it runs as a financially sustainable initiative and in collaboration with related RES initiatives and the Society’s office.
