We are looking to recruit two members to the Women’s Committee. Both are connected to the UK Women In Economics Network (UK WEN) as part of the Women’s Committee. The positions are:
Background
The RES Women’s Committee, established in 1996, promotes the status of women in economics. Committee members provide input and perspectives to help drive forward this mission.
The Women’s Committee undertakes the following roles:

The Women’s Committee is overseen by the Women’s Committee Chair.
Key responsibilities
The role of a Women’s Committee member is to actively contribute to the Committee’s programmes. This includes joining two Committee meetings per year (1.5-2 hours each) and providing input and suggestions for the various initiatives.
It is expected that each Committee member actively contributes to the objectives of one of the four sub-committees. In this role, the individual will be a member of the UK WEN Steering Committee (i.e. the Communication & Engagement sub-committee). They will take the overall lead on a specific initiative within UK WEN; the Career Conversations events. These events target early-to-mid-career women economists, aiming to provide support to their career progression and networking opportunities. The events typically include a content-led keynote speech, a personal development / coaching session, and a panel discussion featuring senior women economists from different sectors sharing their career journeys and advice they would give their younger selves.
The individual will work closely with the Member Operations Director and the Programmes Officer – Diversity & Inclusion (both RES staff) to identify and secure potential host organisations, speakers, and maintain oversight of event delivery.
Women’s Committee Members are UK-based women economists and can be from an academic environment, public sector, private sector or a not-for-profit institution. They have a knowledge and passion for issues related to women in economics. Prior involvement with the Society’s activities is desirable but not essential.
