Key responsibilities:

The Econometrics Journal facilitates the very rapid and early dissemination of good, new, and fresh ideas in applied and theoretical econometrics by striving to have all submissions

• assigned to an editor or screen rejected within one week,
• peer reviewed within three months,
• revised quickly, by avoiding major revisions, and
• published online immediately after acceptance.

The Editor-in-Chief will manage the editorial team and is responsible for:

1. Monitoring and maintaining the efficient performance of the editorial team.
2. Coordinating tasks related to editorial workflow, including the regular assignment of papers to Editors, monitoring turnaround times, workloads etc.
3. Collating the views of the Editors on where the search for new editorial appointments should be directed and communicating these to the Publications Committee to conduct the search.
4. Onboarding new Editors: keeping the induction document up-to-date and providing a demonstration on how to use the manuscript management system.
5. Keeping the Journal’s guidelines and policies up to date.
6. Ensuring the Journal’s replication policy is adhered to, coordinating with the Data Editor where necessary.
7. All administrative tasks related to the management of the Journal, including assessing the choice of manuscript management system, and leading on the preparation of the Annual Report on the Journal’s activities and the annual budget.
8. Taking responsibility and decisions over day-to-day issues related to the publisher and the regular functioning of the Journal (e.g. typesetting, length of issues).
9. Ensuring the implementation of the Journal’s ethics policies and relationship with COPE and being the default point of contact among the editors for the complaints and appeals.
