Vacancy: Diversity & Inclusion Chair

We are looking to recruit a new Diversity & Inclusion Chair to facilitate the Diversity and Inclusion Programme, including the D&I Network, diversity data monitoring of the RES activities and collaborating with those leading other streams of work relating to our strategic priority: Improve diversity, inclusion and integrity in the profession.

Background

In 2024 the RES brought all areas of DE&I under the Diversity, Inclusion and Professional Conduct (DIPC) ‘banner’ and appointed a DIPC Trustee Board member to oversee this strategic priority. These areas are (see appendix 1 for further information):

  • Diversity and Inclusion Programme (led through the Diversity and Inclusion Chair – formerly Diversity Champion)
  • Women’s Committee
  • Standards of Conduct Committee
  • Discover Economics Campaign

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of activities for the Diversity and Inclusion Network, including three meetings per year (1 in-person and 2 virtual events), facilitating the programme content and hosting support.
  • Chair the D&I Network Steering Group meetings – approximately 3 per year.
  • Direct and oversee delivery of relevant communications including quarterly e-newsletters for the D&I Network, and periodic articles for the RES quarterly newsletters.
  • Develop the D&I Programme activities in line with the RES strategy and financial strategy, the DIPC implementation plan and through approval for activities from the Trustee Board.
  • Collaborate with the other DIPC leads to ensure a joined-up approach to further the strategic priorities.
  • Promote and monitor diversity across all activities of the Society, including membership of the Society and its committees, selection of speakers and appointment of editors.
  • Liaise with relevant RES Committees and the DIPC Trustee Board member on promoting diversity and inclusion in activities and/or membership.
  • Represent the RES externally in relation to diversity and inclusion issues.
  • Work closely with the Diversity Programme Officer, Member Operations Director and DE&I volunteers to further the DIPC work.
