Leighton Chipperfield

A social scientist by background, Leighton has a postgraduate diploma in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School and a diploma in Charity Management from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. He is a Non Executive Director for The Evidence Quarter and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Leighton previously held senior roles at a large academic publisher and at the Microbiology Society.

Marie-Luiza De Menezes

Marie-Luiza oversees the development and delivery of the Society’s key programmes for its members and potential members. She is staff strategic lead on Diversity and on the Education & Training, Women’s and Conference Committees. She has overall responsibility for the events, finance, elections, grants and CRM/CMS functions. Marie-Luiza has an extensive background as a senior manager within the charity sector specialising in new projects around organisational change and workforce development.

Georgina Jenkins

Georgina has worked in event management within the not-for-profit sector for many years, more recently at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. She is experienced in coordinating complex, large-scale conferences. Georgina has a background in marketing and design and holds a BA in silversmithing.

Iara De Menezes

Iara holds a first class BA in Journalism from the Methodist University of Piracicaba, Brazil. She is currently studying for an AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting, and previously worked at The Nautical Institute as their Finance Assistant Manager.

Stephanie Collier

Stephanie has a degree in Music and Masters in Musicology where she specialised in Beethoven. She has predominantly worked in classical music industry and charity sector. She began working in touring and artist management, and has moved over to operations and office management supporting senior managers in business operations.

Adam Bryan

Adam has worked in senior positions in the media industry; in the charity sector and as an independent consultant and coach. He has extensive experience in launching and developing membership, partnerships and income generation. He has a post-graduate qualification in executive coaching.

Brooke Sperry

Brooke joined the Royal Economic Society from the College of Optometrists where she managed the journal Ophthalmic & Physiological Optics and commissioned and collaborative research projects. Prior to that she was a higher education policy researcher. Brooke holds a BA in English Literature and History of Art and an MA and PhD in History and Theory of Art and Design.

Sam McLoughlin

Sam is Campaign Manager for Discover Economics, working to attract the brightest and best students to the subject irrespective of their background. He holds a BA in Economics from Newcastle University and has previously worked in the charitable sector, a secondary school and at an EdTech organisation.

Cesilia has a BA in Advertising and a BSS in Visual Communications & Journalism, as well as a Masters in Media, Communications & Development. She has previously worked as a copywriter and copywriting/marketing & communications officer for several years within the corporate sector.

Abigail Carroll

Abby was previously the Head of Science in a secondary school in Bradford where she taught 11-18 year olds and specialised in Chemistry. She has a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and has joined Discover Economics to support students from all backgrounds to access the wonderful world of Economics.

Anesha Seennapen

Anesha has recently graduated from the University of Warwick. She holds a Bsc in Economics. She is responsible for events and admin within the Discover Economics Campaign.

Liza Aberkane Barranco

Liza holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations, and is currently completing her MA in Law. She is a multilingual speaker of English, Spanish, French and Arabic. She has previously worked as a legal intern and researcher in corporate law firms, and has worked in operations management.

She is responsible for the admin of all four grants: Discover Economics Grant, Knowledge Transfer Project, Research Dissemination Grant, and the Conference Grant. She is also responsible for the Governance cycle of the RES, and supports the Council, Trustee Board, Honorary Officers Group, Nominations and Appointments Committee, and the Women’s Committee.

Victoria Parkinson

Victoria previously worked at KPMG in various project and programme management roles within Management Consulting and Marketing. She has a background in Economics having studied Economics and International Studies at Warwick University.

She supports our two Diversity networks: The Diversity and Inclusion Network, and the UK Women in Economics Network (UK WEN); and facilitates delivery of their initiatives.
